How much should I expect to pay to replace the Heads on a 2001 Cherokee if they go?
I'm a new member here and have been scouring craigslist for a used Cherokee somewhere between 97-01. I know the 00-01 models have the issue with cracking heads so I was just curious if anyone knows what I should expect to pay in the even I needed to replace them.
Thanks for your help. Any other tips and things to be aware of other than whats in the stickied post would be greatly appreciated.
btw I'm looking to spend @$6000 on one and live in San Diego so if you know of any available let me know.

I know that I will sell you my 01 with a brand new motor and a non cracked head for a lot less then $6k! Its all stock and very clean. Im about 2 hours north of you BTW.
But if you do go that route and have to replace the head, figure in $1200-1700 for parts and labor.

The head is only the tip of the iceberg.
The real expense comes after the coolant has mixed with the oil and wiped out the bearings in the block...........
