how much shorter is the porc sye than stock?
If i were to get the PORC sye kit, approx how much shorter will my tailshaft be from stock? I'm trying to figure out driveshaft lengths for a friend. He has a dana 35, 231, and AW4 with 3" lift. He plans to put the porc sye on it and use a front driveshaft. Some people say it won't fit cuz the dana 35 (too short) but then this other guy has a aw4, 231, and dana 44 with 6" lift. He runs the porc and front xj shaft.

it will work, in about a month i will be running my SYE with a front shaft at 3.5" and it had plenty of room for 3". worst case scenario is that the shaft needs to be shortened.

coming from someone who has an sye:
it probably wont work
i run 4" of lift with that sye and shaft with a dana44 and my shaft is fully extended at rest.
the dana35 pinion is 1" shorter, so that means you need 1 more inch of driveshaft to make it work.
you could go to the junkyard and measure some zj shafts, they came in all sorts of lengths up to 32.xx"

makes me wonder, are you sure your at 4" sam?
i know people sitting at 5.5" with a d44 running the stock shaft just fine. same person also ran a RE 4.5" kit with a d35 no problems. 3" should not be an issue at all.

im only speaking from experience. mine is basically fully extended at rest.
take it for what its worth, the only real way to tell if it will work for you is to measure.
and yea im at 4" maybe 4.5" with 1/4 tank of gas and an empty cargo area
