I need to replace my transfer case chain, i crawled under my rig and the plate says 231 j. Im assuming its a np 231 ( but correct me if i'm wrong ) and i went to autozone for a replacement, apparantly there are 2 chains for my truck a 70 something link and a 120 something and they both have to be ordered. This is my dd and cant afford aot of downtime so i just thought i'd see if anyone here knows so i can just order my chain before opening the case ( and reassembling til the chain comes in) hence only doin the job once. Oh its a 93 4.0 auto. Thanks fellas

probably the smaller one.
there were 2 different 231j t-cases. there was the standard one and a heavy duty one.
not sure, but i thought the hd chain was only wider.

i have a parts 231j in the garage, i can see if i can get to the chain to see how many links are on it. it's just the standard one.

Huh, i didnt know there was a hd 231, i thought the other chain the parts guy was referreing to was for a whole nother t case alltogether. Well i'll just pull mine apart first thing in the mornin on my day off and hopefully i can get it the same day. Thanks caged, i appreciate it
