How To Flush Radiator?

Need help on how to flush a radiator. Apparently the original owner of my 94 xj sport played in some south Georgia clay and filled the coolant reservoir. I got the clay cleaned out of the reservoir, but need help cleaning the radiator.:brickwall:

i would connect a water hose to the heater hose and let it circulate through the entire system and drain out of the goose neck. while the vehicle is running. but you gotta take out the thermostat for that and it gets pretty messy.

thats one option, or just run a coolant flush through the system. it works pretty good considering i bought and used 4 bottles (about a quart each bottle) and followed the steps entirely throughout all the bottles. it took me pretty much all day, several 12 packs of beer and a pack of smokes with the guys

prestone sells a kit that cost like 3.75 at any autoparts store...or even wal mart. Its really easy to install and stays there for next time. There are additives that you can pour through there too, but I dont know anything about those

i dont like additives much... depending on the brand you get, they can clog up the thermostat if you dont do it correctly

i have lost a radiator to additives once. never again. all of that cleaner is gonna put that trash somewhere... more than likely it's all gonna land in the radiator.

Well i ran a hose through the heater hose but did not mess with the thermostat. Should i do it again?
