How to fix broken lugs? Pics...
 

So I noticed on my passenger side rear wheel that some of the lug nuts looked like they were not seated good in the wheel. Well when I went to remove them. They were stuck big time!!! And now this is what I have...

So do I need to get a new axel for that side? Or can I get just new lugs? Not sure if these press in or what. I'm thinkin trip to the junk yard? I just noticed this after we got home from Moab this past week. I guess this is what happens after some rough wheeling!! Haha Thanks for the help!

That made me cringe a little. I am not sure but you may need axle shafts.

On the rear axle you can use a mallet to pound out the stripped studs and then install new ones with new lugs. I've done this a couple times. Fairly straight forward. Not positive on the front though.

The studs can be pounded out and then new ones pressed in by tightening the lug nuts without the cover.

like stated above, pound them towards the diff and then put the new ones in by putting a big nut or stacked washers over the lug stud and tighten it until its pulled flat on the back of the axle shaft. the front is the same way, just take off the caliper and rotor and it will be a piece of cake after you do the rear.

like this but a nut or washers instead of the "tool" works great.

Awesome!! Thanks everyone! I'm going to go ahead and replace them all. Looks like all the threads on all lugs are pretty beat up. No need to run into this problem out on a highway somewhere! Glad it's an easier than harder fix!!

Yep It was super easy! Hardest part was rouding up all the lugs from three different autozones... I'm going to a show this weekend or I would have just ordered 20 of the from Quadratec at .99 cent a piece! Now it will be the remaining 15. So I can get the other three corners replaced as well.

Now the wheel is on nice and snug!!

It was easy.. Only a few good whacks with a 5lb sledge and some PB blaster and the old ones came right out. It was really too easy. Used some 1/2 washers. 4 stacked and a lug nut to draw the new lugs in. Use a lug wrench or breaker bar.. DO NOT USE IMPACT!! It will strip the little teeth that hold the lug in place. Thanks for the help All!!
