Default two piece front axle

anyone have any info on weather or not u can put a single axle in a two piece axle housing to get rid of the vacume fork, heard u can, have done it and the seal will not keep the 90 wieght in, did to begin with, came home today and puddle on the floor,, 88 cherokee 4.0 ax15 ,, lookin for the short cut and might not have panned out

You have to use a different seal inside the axle housing where the shift was. You also have to use some ultra fine sandpaper to basically polish the axle shaft where the seal will be. If it has any surface corrosion or rough spots, it will chew up the seal and leak. I do not know the seal number but it is in a thread on here somewhere. If I don't find it for you, I'm sure someone will.

you will also need to pull the carrier and install a seal at the pumpkin.

the two piece axle inner shaft is a bigger diameter then the single shaft, so a new seal is required. it is easiest with a seal puller but i used a broom stick when my ring and pinion was removed.
