What piece exactly broke?

the long side innner shaft on the pass side the splines and remaining peice of axle shaft ARE still in the housing

I remember on the farm we used a log chain around the flange to remove an axle shaft. A quick snap of the chain and it would release from the spline.

Since you have no flange and depending on the length of the remaining portion, I see two options:
  1. Remove the opposite shaft, then the punkin and snake the shaft out the punkin hole.
  2. Destroy the axle housing to get at the shaft and replace the axle housing and the broken shaft. Extreme!!!

Perhaps it's possible to remove the opposite shaft, then IF there is a clear line to the broken shaft, a long pin could drive the broken shaft out. Then use a magnet to retrieve it.

Isn't the d 30 a c clip axle ? If so pull te cover pull the center pin remove the clips and push te shaft out and use a strong magnet to pull it out of the hole no need to destroy anything unless it grenaded like my buddy's 9" axle shaft in his yj there's no poit in replacing the shaft if the tube has Been mangled

D30's are not c-clip axles.

Pull the cover and use a prybar to pop out the splined end.

bend a wire at the end and get behind broken pc and pull it out ....

Bingo. I've used steel brake line and put wire in it so it has a loop on one end and two ends on the other. Get the loop over the axle, pull on the two ends and pull it out.
