Unless it was changed by a PO you have a D30 in front. Here are the usual culprits used under a Jeep XJs rear..........

a third member is the removable front section on a ford 9 inch or toyota axle.
you will have a d30 front with a d35 rear or 8.25 depending on year.
if you have a 87 or some 88s came with optional d44. but that's it for stock xj's.
