Where did that come from?

shawn_00x Apr 27, 2013 08:31 PM

I have never seen one broke on that side. Looks like it is time for some liquid steel and thread repair. I guess it could be welded and re threaded, but I am not sure if it can.

I see JB weld in your future.

ckysodkorn_xj Apr 27, 2013 10:03 PM

ckain Apr 28, 2013 02:38 AM

Would I be able to pack the area with jb weld first and drill n tap it after it drys ? Will jb weld hold or crumble

If its open into the cooling system below where bolt would thread into .Drill thru and tap new threads apply sealent to threads of new bolt . Reinstall housing do not over tighten.

ckain Apr 28, 2013 08:10 AM

Well I put the bolt back on and jb welded it last night I'm going to pull the bolt and rtv the hell out of it

ckain Apr 28, 2013 08:13 AM

Cross all fingers do a dance ,spin around and say some magic words I think that might work lol

Firestorm500 Apr 28, 2013 08:44 AM

I'd be surprised if it doesn't leak no matter what you do to try to repair it.

But I hope you can fix it.

ckain Apr 28, 2013 08:49 AM

It was jb welded and rtv to hell and back befor I took it off to replace the thermostat so I think I'll be able to get it to work maybe. All I can do is try, wait, and see what happens

X2
This is how I have seen several vehicles been repaired. I even did this on my 65 Chevy P/U when I first got it.
