Default How do I...?

How do I get these side moldings off? I've been searching these forums but couldn't find much. I was thinking a knife, but might damage my jeep.

Oh and the flares(i'm pretty sure), how do I trim those?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I've heard someone suggest fishing line for the side moldings... basically running a piece behind the molding, holding top and bottom, and working your way along it. Might have to clean the paint to get the glue off after.

Heat works too, I'd guess...

Not sure about trimming the fenders. I'm thinking of doing that too so I'm keeping an eye out for the answer

from what i've heard on this subject before.. the fishing line idea is popular. To get rid of the left overs, i've heard of ppl using alot of heat and peeling it off.

a citrus based oil/wax remover will clean up the rest of the glue that the heat and peal will leave behind.

Why brake cleaner? Is it possible to use something else that is just as effective, maybe an everyday household product?

x2 .. metal scraper.. mine looked like crap anyway.. metal scraper got it started then i put my fat **** into dead weight mode and ripped it off.
it left some sticky stuff behind.. used scraper to scrape it off but ended up scraping paint off as well.. 4 hours per side..
i got fed up and just painted it black and then later on ill herculiner it.

ripped the moulding off

the last moulding left crap behind..

After scraping, sanding, scraping, sanding...used 3m blue tape above.

Finished result:

Finished result with my black moab rims"

brake cleaner is like gasoline.. it turns plastic to mush..
you could try simple green or bleech maybe? something with a strong compound to remove sticky tape..

Lacquer thinner and a plastic putty knife worked well for me. Oh, and elbow grease. Lots of elbow grease. No shortcuts there...
