This is my first post, but I've owned several Cherokees; '97 4L 5spd-totalled, '86 2.5L 5spd-head gasket/head, '89 4L Auto still going strong.
I just bought another Cherokee, this one is a '91 Cherokee 4L Auto.
The AC doesn't work, and the electric fan doesn't come on when you switch on the AC. I tried charging the AC yesterday with a 134 retro kit, and it didn't seem to do anything. Is there a trick to it?
The Haynes manual was worthless, and I tried doing a search on google, and in the archives.
There is a square lug by the hose connection, and I was wondering if it's a valve...
I noticed that the electric fan didn't come on, when I tried to charge it, and I'm going to check my fuses tomorrow, is there anything else I should check?
Thanks in advance!

Make sure you have a good solid connection with the electric fan plug, if you dont then test your electric fan with a separate batt to make sure it is working properly before venturing onto other possibilities.
Thanks Kyle!
I have a feeling I'm not getting power to it...
It should get power when you select the AC, regardless if the compressor clutch kicks on, right?

It should cycle on and off every couple of seconds.Originally Posted by thescirocco.com
