Default HOT A/C Control

I am sure this might have been discussed before but I can't find it. I have a 1991 Cherokee all stock, 4.0 Standard Tranny. I love my jeep, except I can't run the A/C Blower on hi because the body of the climate control gets so darn hot.med. warms it up a little nut hot is real bad. today I forgot and left it on high to long, and my comprssor cut off and smoke was comming out of my dash, I am sure the connectors got hot and burned wires. My question is: do all the XJ cherokees with the old slider controls get hot and do this ? and what have people done to fix the problem ? is there another year jeep control I can mod. that will work and not get hot ? what can I do except keep sodering on new connectors ? Thanks and I hope I hear something soon.

REpair the wires and connector. Your blower motor may have a ton of resistance and need replacing.
