Hood won't close etc.

Hey guys. I'm having trouble closing my hood. One side will close but the other will pop up randomly. Without going and replacing the hood latches, can you guys throw some ideas out there on how to get it to close properly?
Oh, and do you think a thrush glasspack will sound good on my xj? :)

One of my latches got pushed passed closed, and got stuck. I couldn't for the life of me pry it open. So I went to the JY and picked one up for $15 (ripoff, but oh well). Easy as pie to do, just make sure you have the torx bit

Well I originally got my xj from a ghetto mom and pop shop and they had it to where I couldn't open it either! The latch was jammed somehow and they didn't fix it for me. So now for the past few months we thought we fixed the problem and now it's just randomly opening now on the street and I'm like WHAT THE CRAP! :(

Give it a the latch a good cleaning with some wd40 and then give it some grease. Its possibly just sticky.

Also check the spring/hook assembly, One of mine got sprung sideways once and the hood didn't latch correctly till I fixed it.

That was the first thing I tried.

Why not some cheap hood pins?

duct tape fixes all. if that dont work, slam the crap outta it. at times i gotta lift mine as high as it goes, then release. makes a good solid slam. just make sure no fingers or anythings in the way.

Mine did this to me last week, I got a pair of grips on the end of the release mech where it joins the spring near the firewall and gave it a good yank, sorted !
