I have a 1997 jeep wrangler, YJ, It had to go in the shop for hail damage and they put a new hood on but left off the retaining clip. I ordered two Different clips and neither one seems to be the one, one of them is a C clip. They claim you just snap the hood rod through it. Can anybody give me an explanation or pictures of how this retaining clip works or is mounted? This mounts to the hood to retain the rod.

Yeah both parts I ordered were wrong, even the clip with the right part number on it was wrong, all it was was a C-clip. I went to my local dealer and they had one, although the c-clip one I had was the same size, it was not made like the part they had. Bought it and put it in, in less than 1 minute and I was done. What a pain in AA

 

I have a 97 TJ I'll take a look in the morning. Iirc it's a metal clip.

 

There is a small tab that fits inside of an appx 1/8 hole. The clip can be rotated 360*.
