Default Homemade Rock Sliders?

Anyone dabbled in this yet?

I didn't think I'd need them here in South Florida, but after last months "Jeepfest" and I took a boulder to the rockerpanel like a punch to the gut, I'm looking into them.

I've seen a few different makes online, just curious if anyones tried this at home before.

it has been done but to be honest when a set of AJ's can be had for less then 200$ it isnt worth the $ or time put into fabbing up your own.

just my thoughts

why not put a bar similar to this on?
http://www.jeepinoutfitters.com/scri...?idproduct=667

then you could get some rough tape to put around the bar to give a bit more grip.

My buddy made some. Said it was a real pain in the ***, so now he won't make me some. Not sure what the problem was. Really just a nice sturdy length of flat bar, and some tubing to mount it to the jeep.
Here's a couple of pics. Kind of hard to see, but you get the idea....

Later.
