So we got an 89 Cherokee 2wd with ax-15 for parts that was in a rollover. Its got a crazy built stroker in it and hauls ***. The HO in our green 93 4x4 with an AW-4 is using oil and is on its way out. Has anyone ever swapped a Renix into an HO? Is it possible? And also looking to put the AX-15 into my white 93 cherokee 4x4 that has the ax-15 but needs a rebuild. Is it possible to convert the 2wd Ax-15 out of the parts jeep to fit mine? Thanks.

not sure on the renix swap, but I believe if you take the tailshaft off that ax-15 it'll bolt to your transfer case.

I think you can use the renix block, but you have to use the H.O. head. I would keep the auto though.

Don't think you can with that renix if it's balanced with the flywheel for the manual transmission.

Google.

I would think there is no reason you can't do the swap.

Hell I incourage it.

I would say go with the HO head on the Renix setup... but that is just me... On top of that if you got the time you can do some tweaks to the HO head to make it that much better before you put it together... thus making an even better setup for your 93..

I know a guy on here, Cherokeefever, that did just this. His engine is a combo renix/HO. Look him up, he may be able to help.

The whole engine is completely built up, thats why we don't want to use the HO head. This Renix is fast as hell. The AX-15 is going in my white jeep on my pic b/c my 4th gear and all my bearings are shot, the only gear that doesn't sound like its straight cut gears is 5th, lol. The Renix engine is going in a different Jeep that will be staying automatic. We have 3 XJ's right now, lol. Between my bf and I, we have 6 vehicles. We had 8, lol. I guess that what happens when we're both Auto Techs... I'm just concerned about the ax-15 b/c i heard that the shafts are different lengths between 2wd and 4wd. My main concern about the engine is all the electronics. It seems most of the plugs are all the same, even on the throttle body. However the Renix is a manual and doesnt have that other cable going to the throttle body like on an automatic and I'm thinking we'd have to get a Bendix ECU, am I right? Or can I pull the engine harness off the HO and plug in the H.O. sensors, like the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat and keep the ECU in the HO jeep. Crazyness right? And thanks for all the responses so far guys.

I think some of you guys' heads exploded. Lol. Well any way if we do end up using the ho head, if anybody wants to buy a pretty ported and built renix one lemme know. Or the whole stroker motor for that matter, we may not do the swap after all. its fast as all hell and sounds like a hot rod. Epic.
