HO into Renix write-up
I'm doing some detailed research into this swap for my write-up. I have done the swap myself a few times but I need some details to share with potential swappers.
When did they move the temp sending unit from the back of the head?
No guessing. Please look at yours and tell me if the sender is on the driver's side rear of the head or not. Thanks.
Pretty much interested in up to 1998.

Now ain't this a pi$$er. I've got over 5,000 posts. All but the ones in this thread are responses to other people's problems.
I ask one simple question and nobody responds after 45 views?

I believe in some years they had both locations on the HO.

Well, Corey, if you read the first post I think you would understand that I'm doing a write-up on HO INTO Renix and that I've done them already. I'm just looking for factual info for the write-up to help many others who continually ask on CF how to do it.

I dropped a '95 HO into my 90 XJ. I am using the HO longblock plus intake and HO throttle body, and aftermarket HO header. I kept the Renix electronics (ECU, distributor, coolant temp sensor on front drivers side of block, flexplate, CPS, TPS). I tried to use the bootyfab bronze bushing/rollpin adapter documented here, but found it was a PITA to adjust and keep the TPS set, so I broke down and got the HESCO 3-piece adapter...much nicer.
I have the Renix temp gauge sender hooked up to the sender on the rear of the HO head...I think that was the original question. To confuse this a little, I can't remember which sending unit I used.
My t-stat hsg also has a sender in it, mines not connected. I thikn that tells the ECU how to control the aux electric fan. I bypassed that and switch it on myself.

Simply, here's what I want. If you have a 96 or later XJ, post the year and whether there is a temp sender screwed into the driver's side rear of the head or not. Thanks.
