Default hitch mounted recovery idea

Since i use my my hitch for towing i was wondering if anyone had ever thought of just bolting up a couple brackets to the ends of the hitch instead, sort of like these...

they sell other d-ring hitch inserts, so i dont think weakness would be too much of an issue, just drill some holes in the hitch and bolt them down

If you have a receiver hitch there are recovery points that slide into the reciever and have a D ring to hook to.
As far as bolting those to a stock bumper which is just a little thicker than sheetmetal, I would not want to use my Jeep to recover you that way. Don't want to be the recipient of that bolt on piece and the accompanying D ring when it pulls loose during a hard pull.

i wouldnt want to pay 80.99 plus shipping for those. i would rather fab some up. but even cheaper are the hitch receivers and you can just get one with a d-ring. same thing, you can use you hitch for both apps. with no drilling. what you found seems kind of cool. i just wouldnt want to pay $80+ for some nuts and bolts.

Looks pricey............

Then again what do I know, I'm cheap and can weld and have a friend with a 200 ton press that can knock a hole in 2" steel.
