On turns, i get this hissing from the steering column. Or at least thats what it sounds like. As well as hissing, it sounds like something is straining to do its job. Its been happening sense I got the car, and I assume it has something to do with power steering? Its starting to annoy me and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a fix.

Hissing from the steering column?! Toss a mouse in under it and see if a snake grabs it....

Check for a kinked or dented PS hose and flush some new PS fluid in there.

Where would the power steering hose be located?

You have two, running between the power steering pump and the steering gear. Sometimes old rubber hoses get scaly or flaky inside, the metal sections get kinked or bent... worth a quick look. You may be able to pinpoint the source of the noise with a chunk of hose, one end held up to your ear.
