high milage? oil?

Model: Cherokee
Engine: 6cyl 4.0
my cherokee has almost 250k on it. someone told me i could run thicker oil than what your supposed to from the factory. is this true? what kind of oil can i use? it doesnt burn oil..but it does has a bit of a rear main seal leak. does anyone know about this? what kind of oil are you guys using?

Just keep running what you have always run. Going thicker can do more harm than good. I would not go any thicker than 10w40. There are a few brands that are suposed to help soften the seals and help with oil leaks, it may help the rear main.
