Hi all, my 96 xj jeep amp reading has started reading high and all over the place. The car goes along just fine, have replaced alternator,starter motor and air-con. I have had no problems with it. Thx Ian

Do you mean volt. If so I just got done with my 96. All was fine and then one morning my volt gauge pegged. I took my alt out and had it tested, tested ok. All the advise from here pointed to a grounding problem. I started down by the alternator shinning the grounds. There is a ground wire that comes out of the loom right down by the alt and it grounds at the coil mount then the other mounting bolt for the coil bracket another ground wire goes up to the battery. I believe that is where my problems were as it was corroded there. Anyway I shined them all and now my volt gauge stands at 14 idle or at speed. Also my electric windows wouk real good. Find and shine and lube all your grounds and battery post.
