Hi-lift mounting?
I got a 48" Hi-lift jack, and need a good place to mount it, I have a surco rack, but am kinda concerned to mounted on the exterior side because of its high weight, i know i could mount it inside, but i keep my spare up there. i think it would look cool mounted the bumper front, or rear with a little modification?
Anyone have some pictures of them mounted?
Thanks!

I had mine mounted on a Surco rack for a while, the issue I had was the jack sat out in the weather and all the moving parts would rust. Then when you need to use the jack it was worthless.
Having that jack mounted to the outside of that Surco rack and bouncing around tore that screw together flimsey rack apart, to the point where I had to run longer machine screws through sides of the tube to hold it together.
The rack will hold the weight, but I would not recommend leaving it up there all the time. I had mine mounted for about three years, Now I just toss it in the back and tie it down when I wheel.

Do you hear banjos?
There are times when it seems to be in the way, but for the the most part, I like it there. As far as the weather, I just keep it lubed up, and haven't had any troubles with it.
And Racer, it is tan, with a little dirt splashed on for color!! LOL!!

I have a Surco and my Hi-lift mounted to it. Been that way for almost 3 years with no issues. I have a Hi-lift jack cover and used Hi-lift's 4xRac mounts. I take the jack and spray the Mechanism with WD40 every fall and put it back in The bag and mount back on the Surco.

mine is mounted to my rack and has been for over 5 years, and it's been outside for the last 2 winters.
i just spray it in the spring and fall and it still works great.

I think im going to look at the front bumper and get some pictures after i get the mounting kit tomorrow

This is the kit I used to mount it to the front bumper: http://www.quadratec.com/products/92200_04.htm
It was an easy install after taking the bumper off. However, be sure to account for the curvature of the front bumper when installing the mounts. You're going to need to bend the mounting brackets a little in order for them to line up with the Hi-Lift properly. I didn't do that and after bolting them down had to use a 3 lb. persuader to bang them into the appropriate place.
