Help! XJ not running right after sucking water up!
Ok heres what happened went thru a mud hole that got way deep way to quick. I took the wrong line thru it and sucked water up into the intake. Also what I think is my trans vent was hanging down as well. The XJ starts but doesnt like to idle so I have to play with the throttle to keep it running but once its running it idles "ok" I have to rev it up b4 I put it in gear and then play with the throttle to get going other wise it shuts down. If I hit the gas like normal the XJ tries to stall out but if I ease it to the floor after getting going it doesnt mess up. Also went down a steep incline and the XJ tried to choke out so I had to play with the throttle again and it does it when I make a sharp turn. I turned into my neighborhood and the XJ stalled out as soon as I barely touched the gas. Please help I need to get this fixed ASAP.

Did fine in O/D this morning on the way to work and I was able to hit the gas slightly quicker but ever time I let off the gas it acted as if it was in neutral like the engine sounded like it was idling and I cant really tell but sounds like a very very slight miss at times but doesnt jerk or sound like it changes RPM. (I have no tach so Im gauging RPMs by the sound of the motor)

It's a possibility. Yeah if a valve is stuck open during the combustion process then no bang and thus fuel gets dumped out the exhaust.
A compression test would be the easiest way to check.
