Red face Help!!!!! What motor will work

can any one tell me what year of 4.0 will fit my 92 cherokee,,, ive heard a 90-99,, then a 90-95,,, and a 90-00 can i use any of them what do i need to change out if i go with a 99 4.0

1991 and up to keep high output. 2000 went to distributorless ignition.

The engine blocks are basically the same. Although you can't just drop in a 99 engine in your 92 as a few things are different. The heads are different between years and the blocks are slightly different. An engine from a 91-95 should drop in with no issue and be a direct swap with everything in your jeep atm. This should get you the same block and head castings.

im putting a 98 in my 92 as we speek.. well im getting parts to redo bottom end and prob put in tommorrow... so far the water temp sender in back of head will need to be drilled and taped...
if i find anything eles ill let you know...

if i got a 2000 4.0 can i just change out the coil
