Help with OEM Radio connections

1 Attachment(s)
Below: Left/top to radio? Right/bottom two to connectors from the dash? If so... What goes in between? It does not appear there is a color-to-color match/line-up. Help? :patriot:

Top looks like ~1989 radio plug. Bottom looks like ~1986 radio plug.

If your radio is the top plug style then use that plug.

If your radio is the bottom plug style then use that plug.

If your vehicle has a radio plug that ISN'T butchered already I would find the correct year radio or get an aftermarket harness and go that route.

Both the plugs you show go to the radio.

YES! I think you are the most correct so far! The two connectors are from the dash. Now... What radios use these two connectors?
:help:

Unfortunately I don't think they carry OEM units! What I need is a NOS/OEM radio that will accept the two connectors!

Upper picture is 89' style. Lower picture is at least 86' style, maybe newer.

Man... them old stereos are pretty rugged.

SteveMongr Feb 15, 2015 03:41 AM

Wire color will not match when installing an aftermarket radio. Just have to use the chart on radio and a chart for stock wiring, then match functions.
The smaller pig-tail connector is for speakers. The other handles power and accessory.

steelybill Feb 15, 2015 04:16 AM

The long connector in the pic is the same as the one that was used in my '94.
What SteveMongr said about having the pin-outs for the Jeep and a different radio is what I did, to put in a Pioneer radio.
Soldering iron and shrink tubing gets it done.

I still have the original radio if anyone wants it. Works good....
