Help, I need a new 4.0L motor
Howdy, This posting is busting my forum writing cherry. I am a new member to this forum. My 93 xj and I drove from the west coast to central Texas Last month. We started having issues half way through the road trip. At the end of the trip I have determined that the engine oil is mixing with the coolant. To make a long story short, I have 210,000+ miles on the xj and rather than dumping money into and old tired motor, I was thinking of swapping in a new motor? I guess my question is; can ya'll point me in the right direction? I'm not to familiar with 4.0L's and I don't know where to buy one, or what is a good price for one is. Thanks.

I'm also putting in a new motor. A zero mile reman around here runs about 1700 to 1800. I will be installing myself. I don't know where you are at but there is a place in wa that uses all new valve train parts instead of reconditioned and offers a 100,000 7 year warranty. I was going there but decided just to use checker since it is local and the vege engines.

sounds like just the head gasket. while its out, wouldnt hurt to pick up a rebuild kit (ie bearings, rings, gaskets, etc) maybe a valve job. would be WAAAY cheaper than a whole new motor especially if the block and rotating asssembly is good. if the head's warped, the place you take it to get the valves done can remedy the situation for you (within reason) usually. plus, doing it yourself gives you plenty of one on one time with your xj and what makes her tick. just my $.02
