Yep most parts will swap right over. Although some may be slightly different. Remember in 2000 they sorta redid some things.

Yeah it is. My 2000 also has anti-lock brakes, whereas my dad's 99 does not.

This might be a good find for the high-pinion Dana 30 front axle with the larger u-joints (if my memory is correct), which will take lifting better. Always good to have a donor. Also, iirc, a newer Cherokee with ABS had a Dana 35, but the Chrysler 8.25 was standard for models with out the optional ABS. My '01 is non-ABS and 8.25. Is there anything majorly wrong with the '98?

I parted out a 91 that had ABS. That wasn't year specific just an option not all XJ's had.

You are correct if it has ABS is a D35. Definitely a good donor for the HP D30 with the large u-joint axle shafts.

this is true. there are tons of parts on say an 89 that will go to a 2000 and vice versa, there are also parts that wont. all xjs are virtually interchangable besides the body and whatnot. theres always a way to make things fit also

another piece of advice, if someone offers you something for free, especially a jeep, TAKE IT! lol

I owned a 91 XJ Laredo back in the day, it was the first year that Jeep made an attempt to put ABS on a cherokee. It sucked. There was a crappy ABS pump involved that got recalled because it was prone to being crappy. lol. Unfortunately for me, my ABS pump caused my master cylinder to fail prematurely before I found out about the recall and had to spend 500 smackers to get a new one. But they fixed the ABS pump problem at the dealership. Anyway...the ABS in the 91 sucked *****. I don't think they even offered it in '92 because it was so bad.
