Default Help with exhaust!!!

My exhaust was cut off so I just bought a new cat/muffler. I had to modifiy it (CUT) to get it to slide together. Now I cant get the clamp to press down the metal so it drips (Cat to the pipe coming from exhaust). I used 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 clamps because the 2/ 1/4 clamp barely could fit and I had to force it. What can I do to get it to clamp???? I dont have a welder and need to get this clamped on so I can start driving. Once I start driving im gonna have my friend weld the whole thing anyways. I am looking for a temp fix because they dont test for leaks they just look to make sure you got the right equipment installed. HELP

So you're saying you sliced it longways to spread it a little to slide it on? Seems like you just need to tighten the clamp more. I used an exhaust adapter that had a half inch of play in it and got it to clamp tight. Grab a breaker bar and crank till it won't crank anymore, then crank it some more. That's all you can really do until you weld it. Or you could try to JB Weld it. Or if you want to be really ghetto for the time being, you can drill a hole through where the two pipes meet and rivet it. That's only if you're really desperate to hold it together for a day, but you should be able to tighten em up no problem.

Ya thats what I thought man! But I tightened it so hard that the bottom piece of the clamp is now bent out!! I will try and tighten more but it is soon to break off. I really thought the clamp would hold it but man im having bad luck. I got the muffler onto the cat though and that was easy! This is just crazy! Its so tight that its bending out and soon the bottom piece will break for sure.

Whats JB Weld?

JB weld is a 2 part mix that you mix up and sped on metal. Its kind like epoxy in a way but stonger. its good for temp fixs. It will fix your leak thats for sure. lol

Exclamation Epoxy

J.B. weld is a temperature resistant epoxy with metal filler. If you use it DO NOT WELD OVER IT as it will produce toxic gas at welding temperatures.( DEAD WELDER BAD) If you can resist the temptation to weld over it it should outlast us all. If you really want to solve the tube fit issue get some tube stretchers from Pep Boys,Harbor Freight, Autozone Etc. Do Not Weld On Epoxy
