Help! Cherokee won't run!
Hey everyone! I have a 96 XJ with about 200k on it. It is always well taken care of and serviced, and always starts up quickly and smooth. Yesterday, after it had sat for about a day and a half, I went out to start it. It's turned over but wouldn't start, so I gave it a little gas and it started, but would only stay running if I stayed on the Throttle. As soon as I let off it stalls. It also smells like unburned fuel in the cab and under the hood. There are no noticeable fuel leaks at the injectors or rails. I'm guessing this is electrical related, I. E. No spark, so my plan is to check the plugs, cap, etc... Anyone else have ideas? This is my daily driver, so I need to fix it asap. Thanks!

Is your MAP sensor mounted on the throttle body or on the firewall?
If on the firewall, inspect the tube from it to the intake manifold. |
I believe it's on the TB but I'll have to go look...

Still not running after 6 hours of working on it, here is what I checked...
Plugs and wires are good and have spark Distributor cap replaced Rotor cap replaced Plate under the Rotor replaced Good fuel pressure at the rail No sensors bad per the OBD scan No conspicuous vacuum leaks What else could it be? |
Where's the MAP?
