help broke rear shock mounts

I broke all the upper rear shock mounts. How do I fix this. Are they threaded in or a press fitting?

This question has been asked and answered many times on this forum as well... use the search function.

Take an air hammer, or a sledge and center punch, and knock the broken bolt with nut up into the hole. Reach through the big triangle holes in the middle of the jeep with a new bolt on a magnet and drop it through the hole you knocked the old broken one out of... put your shock up there and put a nut on it.

just weld a couple of bolts in place of the studs...

So I take it they just press in

no, there is a nut welded to the inside of the body there... and the bolt that screws into that nut which is what broke. Just knock it out, a couple god wacks will break the weld and leave a nice clean hole. Very common problem, very simple solution. Don't try to weld to the sheet metal, and don't try to cut holes in your body, there's just no need. It takes all of 15 minutes to knock all 4 of those out and drop new grade 8 bolts through there. you are going to need a decent small sledge and center punch, or an air hammer though. Your claw hammer just isn't going to have enough swing to it.

Thank I will try it when I get home. I didn't want to weld by the gas tank anyways.

Knock the old nut out with air hammer or hammer and chisel. Go the hardware store and get four 1 1/2 inch 5/16 grade 8 bolts with nuts and lock washers. You can use wire to fish the new bolts into the holes. there is a nice write-up on jeep forum .com by XJ xtreme(shock bolt replacement)
