Default HELP!!! Battery cable problems!!!

Hey there, You know that crap they spray on the roads, sulpherdioxide? well it had done a number on my cables and I thought that I would be sneeky and just make my own poss.+ battery cable you know because you can't just buy battery cables for a 1996 cherokee 4.0L mopar makes you buy every wire that goes under your hood for around $260.00 well I just can't do that for 2 wires. Problem is now my jeep will not work. I stripped the little green wire that goes to the starter from the old wire got a new wire from an auto parts store hooked it all back up and nadda. No juice the dam head lights don't even come on I can get the motor to turn over by jumping the starter but the motor will not start I also put in a new battery. Help please!!!

aside from that problem... worst case senario, does anyone know where I can get cables that will work. I mean the Jeep ran like greased lightning before I screwed with it... If it an't broke break it. well I've done that in spades.
Thanks J.

Actually, hit up the for sale section, matejcekautoworks is parting out a rolled '88. He still might have a POS cable on that thing. Other than that, I'd just go and retrace the wiring to be sure and take it from there. If you still have the old one, put it back on and see if it works.

Hey Guys checked out that website and I think I'll just buy some cables from them... But still any Ideas as to why my 1st attempt didn't work? Is the cable too small or somthing? I've checked and rechecked and all the wireing is the same as it was when I removed it.

Ok here goes... I have replaced the battery cables and still nothing I have good grounds and everything is hooked up just the same way I took them off. All I have is a test light and I don't seem to be getting anything at the fusable link that goes to the black box located by the battery where the relays are? Sorry if I sound like a newbie I guess I am. I do have some mechanical knowledge but apparently not as much as I once thought... I hate electrical crap. I would really like to see my Jeep back on the road soon without having to shell out coin for a tow and a repair. Any thoughts? All of your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks J. Dempsey

Sounds like the fuseable link could be toast then.

I hate electrical crap.

Don't throw it away as it has uses too. But a multimeter in digital format are under $10 and are what is needed most times.

I have been working on everything under the sun that moves for dam near 50 years and I also HATE electrical gremlins.

I might just replace the red positive battery cable. That is the only cable that seems really oxidized. Seems good?
