Figure out how far to pull the car onto the trailer so that you do not put too much weight (or too little) on the hitch. If you keep the tounge weight in a safe range, your springs should not sag unless you keep the trailer hooked to your Jeep all the time.

my tires rub the fenders when i hit bumps no matter how i load it.

I have Monroe Air Max air shocks on my 2000 Sport. Raises the rear a little to eliminate some sag and squats a little when I hauled a 3500 lb. boat. No problems whatsoever. Only wish they would work on a 3" lift, but if on a stock XJ, no problems. They were only $70 on Amazon.

Weave two spring packs together, 4" lift, cant sag.

I use my XJ for towing a lot, and I have the Monroe shocks. They've been great, and at 110 lbs, they don't sag at all with around 400 pounds of tongue weight. I recommend them if you don't want to lift your XJ.

The only thing about air bags is that you have to run aftermarket wheels or the tires will rub the bags. I wouldn't recommend wheeling with the bags though.

i run soft 8s with 4in bs and a 1in wheel spacer, this should be enough to avoid rubbing.
this a dd so it dosent see any wheeling, my only other concern is i have a 3in lift will these still work??????????

And can also knock your teeth out.

Air bags are awesome for towing. Not expensive either

It kind of depends on the lift. AAL or spring pack? Stock length shock?

hood81 08-14-2010 10:01 PM

2in shackles 1in block, 3in lift shocks

You would have to have custom bags. You would pull them apart at full extension.
