Help!

I went out muddin' today and all was good until i was driving home. On my way home on the freeway the car just completely powered down. Lost all RPM's, power steering, everything but lights. Later tried to restart the engine but it wouldn't roll over. The engine light only came on as the car was shutting down. What could this be?
I did notice that the 02 sensor before the manifold had been hanging. Could an 02 sensor being ripped off cause the jeep to flail the way it is? I fear it would not, because i've driven on a fried 02 sensor before.
There was no oil or any type of fluid leaking anywhere.
Not quite sure what it is at the moment.
Any suggestions!

Thank You

Hi and welcome to CF...Sounds like the TPS is wet or the CPS went bad. Does it run at all?

Heather <3 Mudd 02-19-2011 09:52 AM

It does not run at all. everything just cut out and shut down. It tries to turn over it just will not.

As for the TPS I just recently replaced it, and when it was bad, it still ran but not well.

I would wash all the mud out of the engine bay etc.. let it dry out then start checking everything... and if the engine light is on check for codes

Id prob start by just checking over your grounds/battery/electrical connections just to rule out the obvious. But have you tested your spark ? Or fuel ?

Heather <3 Mudd 02-19-2011 10:02 AM

I have checked the simple electrical parts and they all seemed to be fine. As for the rest I have not gotten to it yet.

I am also about to replace this sensor that got torn off and see if thats whats causing all the trouble. But its just an O2.

Thank you

Ok well keep us posted. And remember keep it simple an engine needs three things to run air/fuel/fire

Thank you, will do!

first thing to do is check for code even if there is no check engine light on dont mean there is not a code

As it currently stands it appears a piston seized

*** Correction that was just ruled out. Though 2 of the other mechanics thought it was a blown motor.

Ran diagnostics and it showed all six fuel injectors

My last trip out muddin', I clogged the brushes on the alt. luckily the bogs have a firehose, so cleaned it out, jumped it off, got it home, took the alt. out, replaced the brushes and moved on.

freegdr 02-19-2011 01:04 PM

you mean blown motor, so it wont turn over when you try to start it

Heather <3 Mudd 02-19-2011 03:14 PM

Ran a diagnostic and it said Injector open cylinder 1-6 with the code PO2O1 through 2O6. What could this mean? Seeing as all six went at once it must be something telling them to fire. where should i start to look?

99WhiteLightning 02-19-2011 03:41 PM

pull off the distributor can and clean all mud and water off the rotor and inside of cap my jeep does this all the time i go muddin simple fix

P0201- Injector no. 1 Control Circuit
P0202 - " 2 "
P0203 - " 3 "
thru P0206

And what 99whitelighting said ;)....Water = electrical's worst enemy
