I have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee Limited and a 1996 Overhead Console and harness that I have mated to the point that the overhead lights work perfectly but the direction shows NE or N but never S or W. My main question is how or what to do to hook up the 1996 ambient air sensor and any fix for the compass issue?
Also what and where to find what they call a mini trip computer?

Compass may need to be calibrated. But it should still give all direction even if it is not calibrated.
My owners manual says to go do donuts to calibrate. "Compass may appear erratic and CAL will be displayed. After completing, at most, three 360 turns, the CAL will turn off and the compass will function normally".
The temp has a sender that is attached to crossmember behind front bumper. Will need that sender.

Thanks Steve, I did try the Donut thing yesterday in both directions with no success so far. Maybe I will try a bigger parking lot next at under 65 MPH, lol.
I have the sensor and it plugged into the socket of the old harness okay but the problem rests with the new harness not having a place to connect to as in the 1996 version the air temp sensor plugs into a mini trip computer which in turn connects to the red plug of the newer(1996) harness that I cross wired into my original one. I did try connecting the new sensor to the CCD Buss inputs of the red plug with no positive result. I did figure out that the way that sensor works is by changing the resistence versus voltage which is interesting. So I am thinking that if I knew what the trip computer looked like and / or had the proper name and part number so as to get one and add to the wad of wires I now have hanging in the passengers footwell, I can have some more fun with this massive remodel which all started because I got tired or waxing the old paint job and decided to repaint it myself (A year ago). So far I am still doing the finishing up of the body work on the outside prior to using the candy apple paint that I got from TCP last year, lol. Yep, this has become a perfect case of the "Snowball Effect", and at 69 years old and operating only on the "Scraps" of my SS income, I am actually having a whole lot of fun.
