I just bought and installed 31x10.5 R15 on my 99 XJ Cherokee but the tires are rubbing when I turn and when there is added weight to the rear, any suggestions., I am planning to get a suspension lift further on.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Where are the tires rubbing? The fender corners? Yes, you really need more height for 31"s. At least 2" for clearance.
You may also rub the LCA's (lower control arms) when in tight turns, but that's back spacing. Most of us don't worry about that (including me).
These vehicles are not meant for these size tires as per the original design.. that's why we mod them.
If you still have your original wheels, put them back on until you get your lift kit in. It will save on the damage to the wheels you just bought and the body of the Jeep.
Also.. on your signature... just add in the year and make of your jeep. It helps us figure things out if you forget to post.

As you found out the hard way, 31's won't fit on a stock XJ without issues. You have three options to fix your problem. Lift it, trim the fenders to clear the tires, or go back to a stock tire size.
