Well the heat in my 00 4.0 cherokee only is warm when its moving. if im idling its just cold air.

I put a new heater coil in it over the summer of 12 so i dont think that could be it

Pop off the radiator cap. How's the coolant looking? Still nice and green? I'm going to assume it's not and it's probably time for a flush of the cooling system...

Uh oh... You have a 2000

Where's the leak at? I'm hoping it's not just mysteriously disappearing...

I'm pretty sure it's coming firm a hose about 6" below the radiator cap. Fyi I replaced the radiator in like November.

sounds like you have a air pocket in the heater core, or you have a blown headgasket filling the radiator system with air

this could be a WIDE variety of things,
like 1996sportXJ said alot of 2000s have a problem with head casting.

Could also be a thermostat?

Let the engine cool,
Start it up and feel the upper and lower hoses.
Does one get hotter faster than the other?

6 inches below the cap? So you mean the lower radiator hose? Did you not replace the upper and lower hoses when you did the radiator?

What you should do is drain the cooling system, replace those two hoses and fill her back up. Then see if the coolant level is still dropping. If it is, I hate to tell you that you may have a larger issue on your hands...

Have you ever changed your own oil?

Yes, I change my own oil. And the hose didn't get changed. i think it was just a like screw sticking out of the radiator that the old hose connected to. But like I said in not exactly sure that's where the leak is, but I do know it is in that General area

It sounds like you're talking about the transmission cooler line. Which wouldn't leak coolant. Check all places it could be leaking. Mainly the radiator hoses and the water pump (weep hole leaks when it goes out). If there isn't an external leak, you have problems.

What does the oil look like when you change it? I'm hoping not like a chocolate milkshake...

Have you ever overheated?

Do you get heat if you rev the engine in park? If so, pull the water pump and see if there are any blades left.
