Default heater fan switch supposed to be super hot?

i took my crappy jvc stereo out to see why it keeps overheating and shutting down when the heat is on, i hav the heat on full blast and i dont feel any hot air blowing up into the stereo compartment, just kinda warm. my hand kinda brushed up against the back of the fan switch and it felt hot,so i touched it and it is super hot, couldnt touch it for more then 2 seconds. i can see maybe warm but not that hot. need a new switch maybe? or the whole damn unit?

Could be either the fan circuit drawing to much current because of the switch or the fan.

Make sure it's only a 25 amp fuse in there. The switch should not get too hot to touch! A motor issue should blow the 25 amp fuse. My switch was bad and would over heat then blow the fuse... There are actually 2 switches in the control panel. one that is behind the thumb **** ($13) and the other built into the controler. Jeep wanted $110 for the controler but there are lots of them in the Bone-yards...

i changed the switch to my old one and that one got pretty hot too, but ill leave it in for now. advance auto has them for 27 bucks or so. i put my new sony radio in and dont want to take it out to change that switch again, unless maybe i can get the heater control out far enough to do so. without disconnecting everything.

i never thought of that. but i think if they are switched u dont hav the bass like it should. when i did my car speakers i had a lot of bass from my amp on, but when i connected the speaker wires there was almost no bass, so i switched them and there was my bass. all 4 of redmucks speakers hav the bass. i hope i dont have that backwords.
