You do NOT need it. Get rid of that plastic piece of crap.

i have a question regarding eliminating it, does the orientation of the hoses to the core matter once the valve is removed? everything ive read is thermostat to lower hose and water pump to upper hose, however 97+ came opposite, i have a 95, and just cant figure out how it needs to be oriented

Get 97 and later hoses. They only go one way.

There's not any kind of valving inside the core, makes no difference which way the fluid flows inside it

I would wash the core out with water both ways before putting the new hoses on.

Bypassed mine. Easy job and gets rid of the plastic pos. They got rid of them in like 95 so that tells you they were a waste of time

I have a '95 and it has a heater control valve. If I remove it and install '97+ hoses so that coolant constantly flows through the heater core is the heat simply regulated by the dashboard controls? I'm all for eliminating useless parts but this sounds too easy and makes me wonder why they were installed in the first place.

I take it that the inside diameters of the '97+ hoses are compatible with the '95 components (heater core, water pump, etc.).

Go get the hoses for 97 and later.

This is SO easy. Take yours off. Put the new ones on. They only go on one way.

Thanks. I could have saved myself a few bucks last year when I replaced these parts.
