Heater/ac problems
I have a 2000 xj, 6 cyl, 2wd, auto. I was charging the a/c this summer and the entire system stoped working. With winter starting i need the heater so ive slowly been replacing parts, after the normal fuse inspections to see if this would be easy. So far i have a new blower, blower regulator, ac clutch relay and no fix yet.
I was wondering if any of you may know what the heck is going on. Thanks, Wes. |
WHat's not working?
Heat ? A/C ? Fan ? When it comes to heat/ac, you have to be a little more specific with symptoms? If the fan is not working .... it could be the fan control switch, it could be the ballast resistor. Is the fan completely dead? Do some speeds work/not work? Common problem in XJ's is the fan speed switch itself, or more to the point the connector on the switch and wring harness .... they burn up over time. |

Note that there is a blower relay in the circuit. It can be accessed by rolling the glove box down. It's right there (see pic). You might want to try replacing it (that is to say your blower does not work). Note also the fuses for the system. PDC and JB. As stated, you need to tell us what exactly it is that is wrong. Attachment 306179 . The blower relay is next to the Green connector. Attachment 306180 |
Thanks guys.
I was charging the a/c this past summer. Truck was running at op temp and i have the air on during the charge. For no reason at all the a/c clutch shut off and ever since not only does the a/c clutch not engage or disengage but the control on the dash is rendered inop. The hvac just dosnt work at all. Like i said i have replaced some parts as of this morning, the great part about being a jeep guy and working night shift is i have tome to work on my jeep!, and still no change. |

When you say the HVAC just doesn't work at all, are you saying you can't get heat or AC no matter what selection you make on the mode selector? And that the blower doesn't work at all? |
No heat or a/c at all, no combo on the mode selector even will run the blower.

And again thanks for spending your time trying to help and also for dealing with my forum edicate, im not on these things very often, never enough time to stop and enjoy the interweb.

Have you checked for a vacuum leak anywhere? I am not sure if the HVAC will function if the blower resistor is burned out but it sounds like a good place to start.
