Exclamation Heat problems

It was 95 degrees yesterday and I drove for about a half hour. I stopped at a gas station to fill up and when I gave the attendant the money, I looked over and saw antifreeze/coolant pouring out from under my XJ (1994 4.0L) heavily. There was still a good amount of coolant in the reservoir, but I added some just to be safe. Now the thermostat gauge indicates the engine is about to overheat after little driving, and when I turn the heat on (to try and cool it) it blows out unheated air. Any thoughts about what is wrong?

sounds like heater core is plugged. bypass it and see if gauge shows lower temps then.

Well, If you lost a lot of water and you only put a little reservoir you probably have no water in the radiator. Where was the water coming out of? Was it over heating or does it have a leak?
