Default Headliner differences

I've done the headliner in a 99 and 00 in the past. Straight forward, an almost enjoyable experience. I went to pull my 95 country liner down and there is no hard back to it. Its just layers of fiberglass mat. Is this what all pre 97s are like?

Yes. The older headliners are weak. The top layer usually comes off when pulling the fabric off.

Well I'll try to repair it and see how it holds up.

You really don't need it. The top is painted on the underside as well. I pulled mine years ago and haven't regretted it. I live in OK and the top doesn't get too hot to touch nor too cold to touch. We've definitely experienced around 20-110 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not to hijack, but I figure this is as good a place as any to ask... can I use the headliner from a 97 four door in an 89 two door?

Relatively new here, and in the midst of Searching for Headliner Reinforce (keywords). On pre-‘97, What is the ‘prevailing’ method to improve “strength” of flimsy OE headliner ? I have seen some use FG layup resin. I asked resin (companies), and they flat out said it would Not work. So, any advice would be Terrific.

Yes, I realize that I don’t NEED HL, but I want my Sound Bar, and Interior ‘roof’ to Look Finished.
