The plunger for the headlight switch just came out, and I'm wondering if it's time for a new switch or if there is something I can do to get the plunger to go back in.

The plunger goes all the way in to the switch with little effort, only a small downward force on the plunger while pushing it in is require, but then it doesn't catch, I've tried holding the button on the switch while putting the plugner in, but can't seem to make any progress, did the splring or whatever catches onto the end of the plunger get broken?
