Headlight Malfunction - Please HELP!

I have a 93 Cherokee and my headlights will not work all of a sudden. The high beams will flash once but won't stay on - all other lights work (dash, parking lights, brake and reverse lights, even turn signals). As far as I can tell all fuses and relays are in working order so i'm thinking it's the switch. I love to try to fix things like this but I am in need of major help from someone who has done it before. Anyone? I would be forever indebted if someone can walk me through this.

Before you try all that, have you checked the headlights themselves to see if they need replaced?

The lever switch actually went bad on my jeep it caused the same problems you are having. The high beams would not stay on. If you pull the lever toward you to activate both low and high beams do they stay on? I would look at that first.

@91 JeepMan - I figured that since whenever I pull the multifunction lever my high beams actually stay on as long as I have that pulled in that my bulbs were okay. Granted it's always good to start simple but if my highbeams are coming on I personally think it's a tad more than bulb replacement.

@Razor - Yes, if I'm pulling the lever the high beams will stay on but as soon as I let any pressure off of it they turn right off immediately. I have noticed my cruise control isn't working for some reason (again, all fuses look good) so it could be in that multifunction lever or it could be the actual headlight switch itself. The headlight switch doesn't fit as tightly as it used to, over time I've noticed it becoming a little loose like it will almost slide back into the dash.

Thanks for the help, I welcome any other suggestions anyone might have!

One of my headlights would only work with the highbeams on, so it could just be the lights themselves. Although, the cruise control not working as well points you in the direction of the multi-function lever. I say, start simple, grab a new headlight or two, and plug em in to see if they work. If that's not the case, grab the multi-meter and start checking out the multi-function lever.

EDIT: I forgot to clarify, I replaced my headlight and it fixed my high-beam-only problem, which is why i suggest replacing yours.
