Default Header problems

I bought the APN( http://www.ineedparts.com/apn-jeep-e...-manifold.html ) headers for my cherokee a couple months back to find that during install, the intake manifold was making contact with the headers not allowing them to fit correctly. Is there a way I can modify either to make this work?

I hate to give the cliche "do a search" response, but this is a fairly common issue. There are several good explanations to this same question.

And another cliche answer "i already checked" lol
What makes this different is that based on my setup this SHOULD fit and for some reason it doesnt

I know this is little consolation right now, but things of this nature is exactly why I paid the big bucks to get a Genuine MOPAR exhaust header for my '92.

It was the improved version with the accordion folds.

Just did mine 2 weeks ago on my 99 and all it took was a few hits with a hammer on the header to put a slight dent to get it to fit,I'm taking like a tiny dent caused by 2 hits with a hammer.

"If a hammer won't fix it, you've got an electrical problem."

The hammer method was my go to but I wasn't sure how kosher that is lol
And I know I should have gone OEM style....
Who knows, it could be electrical .... lmao

I don't think I have ever heard of any APN header going on properly without a bit of modifying. They always seem to need a bit of tweaking to get them on right.

I would be questioning the intake manifold as well. Is it a 99+ style? Observe the following pic...99+ intake on the bottom, 97-98 intake at the top.

I have a 1998 and went with an APN-"style" header from SpeedDaddy on eBay. It bolted right up and I haven't had any issues with fitment with the stock intake. It looks the same as the APN...

I still have an early model 98 so I have the old style. I believe the issue was on the 5th header tube. I don't recall the corners making contact. This was months ago however

I know the 99 style intakes tend to have issues with fitment, thats why I'm confused because I have the older style that SHOULD fit. Next time i get around to it, I'll make it fit this time lol
