Head casting 301
My little bro just picked up a 2000 XJ. At this time the head is good but it's a 301 casting that is prone to cracking. Did jeep ever figure this out and make a head that will work on the 2000 motor thats not a 301.

The head casting is an 0331 IIRC. You can search and find literally dozens of threads on this subject. I don't think anyone has anything new to say.

i have a 2000 and my head has been fine. if you keep regular matienence up you should have no problems. i blew my radiator while driving and with the tempat 260+ i drove it to the machanic and have been driving it since no problem.
