Default Have you Herculined Your Jeep??

I have searched and read a lot of "hear say" on the threads, but looking for input from people that have actually done this.

I recently gutted my jeep due to the awesome wet carpet and nasty ace smell. I had planned on patching the small amount of rust I had an then put carpet back on it.

The more I think of hurculining the inside the more it seems like the thing i should do. I have a leak somewhere no the firewall and know its not my a/c because I have it unplugged.

Can anyone answer my questions on doing the interior floors:

1) Is it true that as the jeep heats up, the fumes are released and has caused people to pass out?

2) How much more heat does it cause in the cab vs having the carpet? I know it will increase a lil, but is it un bearable? I plan to throw heavy duty floor mats on the floor board.

Any other tips, pros, or cons would greatly appreciated. I plan to also put boat plugs in the floor to make cleaning/draining water easy.

Thanks in advance

Never heard about the fumes, but I never really researched it either. It's not really surprising that fumes would be released during the drying/curing process, and that heat would accelerate that, but I would expect it to finish releasing gasses after a few days.

Edit: what's a boat plug?

You know, the plug where you plug in your boat? Right?

Seriously tho... Drain plugs to let the water out.

Also, keep us posted on the bed liner project, I want to do it to mine too and just havent had the time to work on it.

I've done just about every off road vehicle I have had, the worst part is doing it but at times its the funnest cuase of my lack of oxygen doing it when the wind died down, after doing it thou give a few days to cure and its just like having a hugh floormat and put a few drain plugs in so when it gets dirty you just spray it out.

I might have to just go ahead and do it....seems like the easiest way to keep it clean. I dont like the crazy texture of the hurculiner...might have to try a diff roller or something. Ill keep you guys posted when I decided what to do.

I lined my floor and have had no odor issues or passing out so far and the heat is minimal the transmission hump is where most heat occurs but I have a very highflow exhaust system with no muffler or cat and a side exit
