my 1990 4.0l has been having some running issues. first off its always been hard to start ever since i got it. It runs pretty crappy now it idles at around 1200 usually. whenever i drive it you can smell fuel real bad. i'm not sure if this is related but it sounds almost like air is leaking from the fuel tank area when its running. the idle is usually jumpy and fluctuates up and down just a bit on the tach. it has a vacuum leak which is coming from the big plastic main vacuum fitting there all the little lines stem off of. It doesn't have an egr valve since i got it, and the vacuum map isn't helpful when half of the lines aren't even there.
Also i noticed one day when i accidentally unplugged the vacuum line to the MAP sensor, it started RIGHT up, then ran like crap. it was just weird to me how fast it started when it was unplugged. could someone please post some pics/diagrams of the vacuum lines and how they should be run? ill post some pics in a little bit, thanks.
