Hard start-doesn't stay running

So she likes to be a ***** sometimes and not start easily. She'll crank and everything, but not start until you give it some throttle. It stays running if you keep the revs above 1k, but if you let off the throttle it stutters and stalls out. If you keep on the throttle for a while (and possibly get the revs higher, i do that too) after a minute or two she'll stay running. No idea where to start with this one... It's not all the time, and it does it hot and cold.

I had the ignition and bits of the steering column apart a little bit ago to hotwire her, could I have f'ed something up under there?

I doubt you messed anything up in the column if you can start it. Check your fuel pressure first to see if it is getting the correct pressure. If it is then check your TPS and CPS. Those seem to be pretty likely culprits if you have the correct fuel pressure. Might wanna pull the plugs also and see they are still good.

Would the CPS be intermittent?

I think the cps generally just fail. But that's not a rule :) could be a fuel delivery issue, or the TPS or IAC (if ya got one). Sorta along these lines... My buddies Mk 2 vdub had this weird issue where he had to hold the key all the way over to keep it running. As soon as would let go of key it shut right off. My point is maybe it's in the ignition/starter somewhere??? Idk...
