Hard brakes
I recently bought a 01 XJ with 64k miles on it. When I apply the brakes there is no feel to them and they are hard. I had the brake fluid flushed and changed.
I also an 01 XJ with 155k miles on it and when I apply the brakes you can feel you're applying them. They've been like that since I bought it new in 01.
Does anyone have any suggestions what might be causing the brakes to fill hard and any ideas on how to soften them up?
Thanks
Jeff

It depends, i would say in a range of 100 - 150 bucks (honest), up to 300 (dishonest), couple of hours.
You could easily do that yourself with a few tools and minimum skills.
If you want to try we will support you.

check the vacuum line first but I would bet on the booster[/QUOTE]
I agree... start w the simple thing first... make sure the vacuum line is connected at both ends, then (with the Jeep running) make sure that it is supplying vacuum for the booster. If nothing's wrong w the vacuum line, then on to the booster.

I also have a 01 and the plastic gromet has a small cover on it that fell off. And I experienced the same symptoms. I picked up the piece from a JY. Hope it works out for you.
