Handle on A Pillar
Hey All,
I am wondering if anyone out there has fashioned some sort of handle for the A Pillar? My wife is on the short side and had difficulty climbing into the jeep sometimes but an A Pillar handle would make a world off difference.
I don't see any kits out there some I am wondering if anyone has done something homemade.
Thanks,
John
UPDATE: See post 14 for my solution!

It would have to be strong and i don't know what you could do to reenforce the mounting location for the handle. Take the plastic trim off and look and see if you could mount a handle with some kinda self tapping screws.

Ahh got it. Yeah definately if he were that low he wouldn't need the handle for sure. Just woke up you guys are going to have to give me a bit to wake up fully, on second cup of coffee. Long night, early morning.

I was thinking about using some nut rivits in there but I am not sure what kind of room I have. I guess I should just pull the trim off tonight and see what I am dealing with. I was just hoping someone had done this already, hahahahahaha.

Kayak handles look like they would work great and be flexible when you bang up against them. Very smart idea.

Ok well I tried the whole kayak handle thing and I hated it. I didn't like how it just flopped there and I especially didn't like that it lacked rigidity. Even with the grommets in the thing you could hear it ripping when you pulled on it so I ditched it and made my own handle.
I had some flat stock and some small tube laying around so with a few bends and some welds I had what you see here. After some powdercoating I installed it and that is what I call a handle. Easily handles my weight and doesn't deflect at all.
Nut rivits worked perfectly in the pillar and hold it nice and tight. I used 1/4-20 ones and you really don't even have to take off the trim to get them in there.
